My first blogging topic!!!

My first blogging topic!!!

For as long as I can remember I was in the catholic schools. All I had known was knee socks, a uniform, and morning prayer as a school. That was my background and what I have grown up around. It wasn’t until my freshmen year of college where I dressed for school in the clothes that I had picked out for myself. It wasn’t until that, I had been in a classroom without the crucifix hanging on the wall. I realized in college that when there is no separation between religion and education, you begin to confuse the two and they become unconsciously interchangeable. All of this is about to change. I am currently a junior in college and prepping for my senior year. My one goal for this very important summer was to get a big girl job in the public school system of my hometown Lawrence, MA. I decided in college that I didn’t want to work in the catholic schools after learning more about myself and my surroundings. This blog is going to capture my experience working in public schools for the first time and the experiences I encounter. I would love to have all of the new skills and challenges I go through in one place so I don’t forget later on. I am working at the Rollins early education/ intervention center in Lawrence. It is a preschool and kindergarten for special ed/ and other struggling students. I will be working monday through friday for the last month of school and it will be very interesting.

I plan on posting at least once a week to summarize and reflect on the school itself, and also these students!
