9.Expectations for the End.

9.Expectations for the End.

Every year a teacher has specific expectations to meet. There are classroom requirements and traditional wrap-up activities that take place. Every school has different expectations to meet in regards to how they prepare for summer but I have never peeped like this before! We got out of school on a Tuesday, and they were having people come in to change the windows on Wednesday. The principal sent out an email explaining we are not allowed to start taking down the classroom until the last day of school…. so we were there on the last day for hours trying to clean and get the room organized for the next day. I would never of thought this could come out of a situation.

Another big expectation to meet is paperwork and getting student’s work, files, and assessments all squared away somewhere safe. Worksheets and projects are not just busywork, but it is data. Very strong data because it is 100% made by the student. My teacher worked diligently to have all of the content organized and uploaded to “SeeSaw” for future teachers to have access to it. This content will allow their teachers next year to have an idea of where the students are at. Yes, there are standards but with specific data like this, it is helpful to see examples. Here is a great example of handwriting progress that will be submited! It shows where he started and how we got him to where he is now!

Parent conversations or lack their off?

On the last day of school one parent asked me,”Do you know where ____ will be attending in the fall?” I stood there, eyes wide and quickly turned to my teacher to ask for help. She explained where every student is placed and how the parents have control on where they register for kindergarten. Most students stay at the school for the next level up but parents still need to enroll them. Some parents will look to the teacher for all the answers, and it’s ok not to know them all. As long as we can send them in the right direction to get it resolved.

Teamwork is always the answer.
