Standard 7

Planning for Instruction. The teacher plans instruction that supports every student in meeting rigorous learning goals by drawing upon knowledge of content areas, curriculum, cross-disciplinary skills, and pedagogy, as well as knowledge of learners and the community context.

Artifact I chose the in-depth presentation on evidence-based reading programs, and specifically what does it mean to be evidence-based. I also choose to incorporate a graph from the course that explains the Tiers of a classroom.

Instruction

Reflection In relation to the class and everything we learned in EDU 206, it is very important to stay organized and keep the students’ progress in mind while assessing them and follow through with instruction. When you divide students into Tier 1, tier 2, and Tier 3 you are setting them up to meet their own individual needs. The graph above also describes what each tier should look like, and the roles it fulfills. The presentation will be very useful in school board meetings, or simple conversations with peers in the field. It’s important to not only have a deep understanding of your chosen curriculum but have an understanding of how it affects other people and the data behind it. The more knowledge you have the better prepared you will be to teach it.
